Lerncafés Österreich

Not for every child is it possible to cope with without any help the difficulties of the school. The parents of the children don’t have the knowledge to support them or haven’t got the money to buy some private lessons. Based on these reasons Caritas has started the initiative “Lerncafe”, where they offer afternoon childcare and teaching lessons for free. The volunteers help the children to prepare them for exams and to make their homework. The aim of this initiative to raise the rate of the children, which are completing their class.

In addition to the targeted help with homework and the preparation for scholarships and tests, the mainstream and voluntary employees also aim to provide the children with the opportunity to learn and strengthen their knowledge of German. The contact with the parents is one of the most important thing for the members at Lerncafe. In Austria there exist already 48 “Lerncafes”, where 1190 children receive attention. 690 volunteers support the children and help them to study.
